Dereham Town A entertained a strong, well organised Gressenhall side and ran out worthy 3-2 winners.  The opening exchanges were dominated by largely scrappy, route one football, as both teams failed to control the game.  As the half progressed Dereham started to play their football, led by the excellent Maund, who continued where he left off the previous week, terrorising the Gressenhall defence.  For all their pressure Dereham failed to find the net and it was not until the stroke of half time Dereham broke the deadlock.  Lee woodgett and Ryan Maund combined in a flowing move down the right, the resulting cross being half cleared to the edge of the area where Gizzy King pounced on the loose ball and fired an unstoppable shot into the bottom corner of the net.  After some harsh words at half time regarding Derehams workrate, the players returned to the field with renewed vigour and purpose.  Dereham were attacking effectively on both wings with Took and Dobson linking up well to try and break down the resolute Gressenhall defence while King and Hughes began to run things in the centre of the park.  Against the run of play Gressenhall equalised with a long ball pumped into the box, and with the impressive Wright injured in the centre of the penalty area, the ball was bundled into the Dereham goal.  Dereham were forced into two quickfire substitutions with the loss, through injury, to both top scorer Hackett (hamstring) and Wright (ribs).  After a reshuffle Dan Goffin slotted into centre midfield and Gareth Taggart into the left back position.  It turned out to be an inspired substitution as after some good work by cork, the ball fell to the back of the box  and the onrushing Goffin, who fired the ball home.  Dereham continued to dominate possession but with less than ten minutes to go and after conceding a weak free kick 35 yards from goal, a hopeful, lofted free kick failed to be cleared and fell to a Gressenhall attacker who stabbed home.   Gressenhall inched deeper and deeper making it more and more difficult to break them down.  The win came, slightly fortuitously, when a good run and cross/shot from Cork nestled in the top corner of the Gressenhall net.  It was no more than Dereham deserved however. Overall, a good battling second half performance, although lessons can continue to be learnt on the importance of concentration for the full ninety minutes.  The only major concerns of the day were the injuries to both Hackett and Wright and the team and management wish them a speedy recovery.
