| 05/05/2008 - Needham win Ridgeons League Cup Final |
Gorleston 1-2 Needham Market
Needham Market lifted the Ridgeons League Cup this afternoon at Diss Town's Brewers Green Lane ground in front of a crowd of 339.
Gorleston took the lead early in the first half and held the lead into the second period but two Needham goals without reply took the Cup back to Suffolk (Lowestoft having won the trophy last season). |

| 04/05/2008 - End of Season Placings |
Congratulations to Soham Town Rangers who won their first ever Ridgeons League Championship with a 4-0 home victory over runners-up Needham Market on Saturday. Needham Market had set up the winner takes all finale by gaining the necessary 7 points from their previous 3 matches but, in the end, had to be content with a very credible runners-up position. Both teams were presented with their trophies after the match at Soham. There was a crowd of 680 at Julius Martin Lane on a day of good attendances. 445 were at Wisbech Town v Woodbridge Town to see a substitute appearance by the legendary Jackie Gallagher and 585 watched King's Lynn Reserves v Newmarket Town, many presumably there to see King's Lynn first team parade their recently won Southern League Championship trophy. Dereham Town overtook Mildenhall Town for fourth place by beating the Suffolk side 2-1 at Aldiss Park on Saturday. Victory in their final match against CRC was not enough for Swaffham Town to lift themselves out of the third relegation spot from the Premier Division. Swaffham must now wait to see what the FA decide with regard to promotion and relegation between Step 4 and Step 5 leagues. Promotion for Soham Town Rangers and no team replacing them from Step 4 would probably mean a reprieve for Swaffham |

| 26/04/2008 - Kings Lynn Take the Title |
|
Congratulations to The Linnets on their success
King's Lynn clinched their their first Southern League Premier Division title and promotion to the Conference with a 2-0 victory over Merthyr Tydfil at Penydarren Park today.
The Lynn side were greeted by rapturous applause by their army of travelling fans as they took the field for their all-important title decider on a glorious sunny afternoon at Peny Darren Park.
Previously the closest they have ever been was as runners up to Cheltenham Town in 1985.
Locked together on equal points with season long opposition in Team Bath at the top of the table they had to match or better the result of their West Country rivals who were playing at Chippenham in order to take the crown in what was one of the closest finishes in the Southern League for several years |

| 24/04/2008 - New Manager For Diss Town - Guess Who ?? |
Ridgeons League Division One club Diss Town has announced the appointment of Robert Taylor as first-team manager with immediate effect.
He met with the players for a training match on Tuesday ahead of the final two league games of the season.
Paul Tong offered his resignation as manager after the recent match with Gorleston. It was declined then.
The board of directors subsequently met with Tong to discuss the situation and as a consequence decided to look for a new manager for next season.
The chairman communicated this decision to Tong after the Fakenham Town last week and during a discussions last Friday morning, it was agreed that Tong would leave his position immediately.
Former Norwich City, Leyton Orient and Gillingham striker Taylor began his managerial career with Watton United and then took over as joint boss of King`s Lynn`s reserve side before being handed the first-team role after a successful stint as caretaker boss , but that lasted less than a month before he was replaced by Tommy Taylor.
He then signed for Ridgeons League side Gorleston but found playing regularly difficult so he turned out for Holt in the Anglian Combination.
At the end of December 2004, he was appointed as the new manager of Ridgeons League side Dereham Town, and despite twice winning the Norfolk Senior Cup and becoming established as a leading Ridgeons Premier Division side, Taylor was sacked in early February 2008.
Diss chairman Des Tebble said: “We welcome Robert Taylor to Diss Town Football Club and would like to record our thanks to Paul Tong for his efforts during the last year with us.” |
